The Mets' farm system is relatively weak in terms of natural second basemen (i.e. Daniel Muno and Branden Kaupe), but the front office has prudently pushed offense-first Wilmer Flores to learn the position at Triple-A this season.
When the season ended in disappointment in 2009, Mets fans were assured by the owner and Omar Minaya that they would be very active in the off-season to improve the team. They have been very active. The only problem: they didn't improve the team.
