Hollywood's endless revisiting of cherished figures from our past has always been a successful entertainment ploy. And none more so than the current obsession of making every character in a movie a dangerous, sexy twenty-something.
It's very nice that Oscars made a special tribute to movie musicals. The only problem is that not a single one of the musicals honored (Chicago, Dreamgirls, Les Miz) was ever eligible for Oscar's own category of "Best Original Musical."
Now we continue our 'the films of 2012' lists with another favorite, the underrated! And as always, this list won't just be good films that were labeled as "bad," but also mediocre films that got unfairly pounded, or genuinely bad films that nonetheless deserved credit for one element or another.
