I'm optimistic about the future of the Hawaii fashion industry, but there are still many challenges. Though we love the weather here, the lack of seasons makes it difficult to design and find a market for more than just the resort wear and spring/summer seasons.
Another Fashion Month kicks off this week and designers in New York are scrambling to get their Fall 2014 collections show-ready. They needn't bother. For bloggers, celebrities and sadly, even a few editors, Fashion Week is more of a time to be seen than see the collections.

I work really hard on my blog, and it's something I love so much, but it's crazy to actually realize that somewhere in Poland, or Brazil, someone else is sitting down on the other end of that screen, and smiling or laughing.
Brands currently rank and recommend on mere page views. This system is great for those bloggers who started early and have continued to write consistently. But, where does this leave the hundreds of thousands of other quality bloggers with superb content yet small readership?
