Because of my own personal history with hunger, I am compelled to do something to help. Not just for those who are in need, but also to start setting good examples for my children on altruism and on being good citizens.
New statistics paint a horrific picture of hunger in America. According to the USDA, an estimated 50 million Americans are food insecure, including nearly 17 million children. This is morally reprehensible.
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I ask that you take note of the neighbor down the street, or a former co-worker who got laid off, or a member of your place of worship. You just don't know -- they may be in need of food.
