As a travel writer whose inbox is always jam-packed with profound and deeply moving press releases, it started me thinking. Wasn't it high time that the finest of these works earned the recognition they deserve?
With a few notable exceptions, much of what is written and said about freedom is primarily focused on outer experiences. What's rarely discussed is that having outer freedom does not guarantee the inner experience of being free.
If terrorists are able to not only attack us physically but get us to judge our neighbors by labels rather than the content of their character, turn our back on the Constitution and then restrict the religious freedom of other Americans, we all lose.
