Like ''diabetics,'' ''alcoholics,'' and epileptics,'' ''schizophrenics'' can usefully indicate a group of people with a common condition, and some individuals with schizophrenia refer to themselves this way.

Right now, well meaning mental health advocates are busy hosting events to reduce the "stigma" of mental illness. Except that there is no 'stigma' to having a mental illness. There is discrimination.

Maurice Clemmons is now dead. But treatment for his illness would have been better for all. We have to stop denying violence and start treating it.
