McCain's Claims of "Change" in His Acceptance Speech Are New Standard for Chutzpah

Bush and the Republicans have thwarted attempt after attempt by Democrats to pop the speculative oil bubble and provide relief to consumers. Each time, Republicans sided with Big Oil over the American people.
Last week a mix of water and sanitation experts gathered for World Water Week in Stockholm, Sweden to mull over the world's biggest public health crisis. The problem is that not enough people paid attention.
Flying to visit his wind operations in Sweetwater, Texas, T. Boone Pickens makes it clear that his next wind project is big, Texas-style -- 4,000 megawatts up in the Panhandle north of here.
I thought I'd go up join in with a few of my eco-insensitive brothers and have a look at where the new oil wells are going to be and grab a nice polar bear and bald eagle sandwich.
My disappointment comes from the fact that politicians on both sides of the aisle still don't really get that climate change is a planetary time bomb. They still think it's a political football.
The simple-minded bumper stickers are back, and boy do they look good on the rear window of a 4x4: "Drill Here Drill Now." The policy they propose, though, doesn't look so good.
It's the same story we've been hearing from car-makers, especially those in Detroit, for the past 30 years: "Just wait a little longer and we'll have those new cars and trucks you've been hoping for."
Advertised as "tri-partisan," Gingrich is seeking to wrap himself in some form of post-partisan sainthood, a repackaging enabled by the We Campaign's embrace.
I have a confession to make. I actually watch the network news. Maybe I should enter into a twelve-step program or something. But I don't watch the ...
If Britney or Paris were to claim they were virgins, the media and public would go into apoplexy, but McCain can be equally dishonest about important policy issues, and virtually nobody says a word.
We are already paying carbon taxes, and they are working the way environmentalists said they would. But let's try not to send so much of it to oil companies and the Middle East.
What is McCain's next commercial going to be? That Obama is responsible for global warming? The recent outbreak of salmonella? The inability of the Chicago Cubs to win a World Series?
Although we need to find cleaner ways to fuel our economy, perhaps there is some poetic justice in the fact that this rural forgotten area has hit the jackpot.
80% of the oil and gas resources off our coasts are already available for leasing and drilling. Listening to Bush, McCain and others, you'd think we've been locking up all our resources -- the opposite is true.
More domestic drilling means more product for oil companies to sell at the high world market price. The consumer doesn't see a cent, while oil companies rake in even more cash.

What he could have been doing with the other $198,000 he was spending flying from NYC to LA when he could have been flying first-class commercial all along (McCartney purportedly flies coach). Well, maybe now instead of trying to get the Saudis to give him some "charity" -- Diddy could give more out. A large contribution to feed hungry children is a great idea for someone with that kind of cash. Maybe a nice large one towards developing alternative energy.
I just don't care to hear the rich and famous complain about expenses when they make as much 50 "regular" people in a year's time.
Hey Diddy, any sympathy for those of us who can't afford to fly at all?
Pity for Diddy?
California has oil off it's coast why don't you go drill some? Oh, that's right...I almost forgot...the Dems don't want you to drill..
