There has been a lot of talk about a glass ceiling against women in business and corporate boardrooms. This week's block by the Senate for a bill that would strengthen equal pay for women is a good example of the challenges we face regarding this issue.
Stock options are used to reward longevity and loyalty, while salary is the benefit you get for doing your day-to-day job. Don't forego a salary negotiation because your employer offers a stock benefit.
What I am not hearing anyone say loudly and clearly in this Rosen/Romney snafu is that women's ability -- not desire or choice -- to take part in the economy is based on her freedom to make reproductive decisions.
Once we hit 50, we understand life is not unlimited, so maybe now's the time to clarify our priorities. I can only assume that President Obama and his team have been thinking about and planning his legacy for quite some time. Is he on the right track?
