McCain has learned a lot from Bush.

I think he performs better when he just stayed with the beach volleyball girls. Btw, they won gold today and screamed into tv loudspeaker that they thank the President, were inspired by the President, bla bla bla...
These pictures are very revealing:

I assume the crowd was selected, as all his audiences seem to be. You know: if you have a CodePink t-shirt, longish hair, a Greenpeace patch, or any other indication that you might show some skepticism at his prepared remarks (or even his unprepared ramblings and malaprops), you will be escorted out. Not gently.

More federal money was sent to Louisiana to fix the levees in the first 3 years of the Bush administration than in the entire 8 years of the Clinton presidency. The problem is that the corruptocrats in Louisiana lined their pockets with the cash and the people in the lower wards near Lake Ponchatrain were the losers in every way. Oh, how easy to blame Bush. Blame Kathleen Blanco, for that is where the true blame lies.
Thank God for Bobby Jindal. Louisiana finally has a hope of true progress, and the good people of New Orleans finally have the leader in the Capital that will lead them out of the dispair they've suffered under Ray "School Bus" Nagin.

You clearly don't have any idea what you're talking about. Governor Blanco did the the best she could with what she inherited, and almost no one could've held up under the burden of being responsible for cleaning up the worst disaster in American history. Especially when the federal government was openly hostile towards her, ignoring her pleas for help.

Governor Jindal's been in office a couple of months at this point, and I have yet to see anything impressive come out of his office with the exception of some pretty hysterical outrage over state leaders and raises.

I will give you that Nagin is a lulu, though.

"Fixing" the levees, pre-Katrina, is like proposing to fix a poorly-built and poorly-constructed house. Given the Corps' deliberate errors and omissions, maintenance or repair were not up to the task. Pre-K, the fault lies with administrations of both parties. Post-K, the paucity of response lies primarily with the Bush administration, although the Congressional Dems (and the presumptive nominee) have not exactly been alacritous in proposing to reform the Corps, restore the wetlands, and rebuild rental housing in the city....

I was in New Orleans recently, and surprised by the number of apartments still destroyed, but what came to my mind was there must not be a market for them, rather than the government was not doing its job. If there was a glaring need for rental property in NO private industry would be attempting to fill it. Industry must return to provide jobs to rebuild the city, and I think alot of industry used Katrina as an excuse to leave completely.
