”Their valuables were shattered, their beds were destroyed, the places where they laid their heads down at night no longer exist,” one of their attorneys said.
New York officials identified Karen Vergata as the long-unnamed victim whose remains were found on Fire Island in 1996.

The filing for Asa Ellerup was listed as “uncontested.” It comes days after Rex Heuermann was charged with killing three women whose bodies were dumped on Long Island.
