We live in a skybox nation, where the rich and the poor very rarely meet and therefore understand little about each other. For Fox News anchors, a minimum wage job is a fun thing you do over the summer to get out of the house; for most people, it's their livelihood.
Between Obama carrying women voters nationwide in 2012 and 2008 and the GOP's multitude of votes against women, there's little denying the Republican Party has a woman problem. And yet women are absent from the speculation about who should replace Jim DeMint.
The national vote, while worthy of high-fives all round, is hardly the end of our struggle for women's rights. When conservatives lose a decisive battle at the federal level, they don't go home and sulk. They redouble their efforts at the state and local levels.
I'd like to say thank you to people like Rep. Todd Akin, Mike Huckabee, and the numerous GOPers for making me understand how important it is to be vocal about equality and choices, about what is right, and what is progress.
