I just read Te-Erika Patterson's post about the "Rebuild your life project" and although I commend her efforts to "demystify" homelessness I wanted to share with everyone just how non-mysterious homelessness actually is.
While there has recently been widespread response to the epidemic of bullying against LGBT youth in schools, there has been a tragic lack of response to the epidemic of youth being thrown out of their homes by homophobic parents.
Currently, there are about half a million children residing in foster care within the United States. There are approximately 300,000 young adults, ages 18 to 25, who have spent at least one year in foster care. This is reason for concern.
