No matter what the eventual outcome, brave ILWU members have breathed life into the labor movement. One can only hope that their actions will inspire union members in other industries to assert themselves as well.

Democrats have been ineffectual in ending the war. The striking dockworkers remind us that change demands taking risks and making sacrifices and that you have to be mightily angry or full of conviction to do either.
