With the sequester threatening economic stability and gun advocates and opponents squaring off for a battle, it seems increasingly likely that the only policy area where Democrats and Republicans may agree this year is immigration reform -- and now even that seems chancy.

We know from multiple reports that many of those who will seek this type of relief from removal are some of the best and brightest students our country has to offer. They deserve to stay here and to become Americans.

Unauthorized immigrants are not solely to blame for the failures of our immigration system, and they should not be punished harshly for sins shared by the business sector and past administrations.

With such vast bipartisan support, is now the time to finally implement a legalization program for the unauthorized population?
