You might have heard that unemployment fell in August only because armies of the unemployed are despairing of finding work. The reality is more complicated -- but true enough that somebody should do something about it.
We cannot overestimate the devastating human consequences of our unemployment crisis. But we also must not miss out on spotlighting what is working. That's the belief behind the new jobs section we're launching today, Opportunity: What Is Working.
Let's not let the difficult job market rob a generation of young people from having a valuable experience to learn, grow and cross the threshold into adulthood. If your company can give a young person a paying job, great. But if it can't, think about the many other ways to help.
