Be thankful for radio silence I guess when other candidates for VP like Daschle and Bayh are getting phone calls saying, "Sorry....but we look forward to working with you in many other ways in the coming years."

When backed into a corner, a mother lion will fight to the death to spare her cubs. It's programmed into human nature.

Because Edwards is out of office, not on the ballot, and now out of the running for a convention speech, VP slot or cabinet post, the scandal will have little effect on Democrats' chances this fall.

Elizabeth Edwards may not have believed in him as a perfect husband after learning about his affair with Rielle Hunter, but I'm willing to bet she believed in him as a candidate.
Diane Tucker, 08.15.2008
Self-help books don't help me. But Hunter calls this one transformative. Who am I to argue? She transformed herself from barfly to well-paid campaign video-documentarian in a matter of weeks.

Public records searches reveal a history of criminal charges and convictions that paint a potentially different picture of Andrew Young than that of a typical campaign worker.

As for his wife's cancer being in remission, if you wanted to pick one detail in this story that suggests John Edwards is, in fact, a lizard using a $400 haircut to masquerade as a human being, that would be the one.

I know that women cheat -- statistics reveal that the number of married women having affairs is on the rise. But why aren't powerful, middle-aged political women ever caught in sex scandals?

Just like Cheney wearing those beat up loafers on a diplomatic trip to the Middle East, the focus here is not fashion -- it's character.

Does the MSM feel as though it has to make up for the months it avoided the Edwards story and left the National Enquirer to go for the gold alone? Edwards acted like a bigtime jerk, but do the rest of us have to also?
Richard Laermer, 08.15.2008
In the end Edwards, like Spitzer before him, will fade into the Gary Hart night. What will we be left with but more tawdry feelings about a couple we admired. There's nothing good in it. Let's stop gossiping.
Lee Stranahan, 08.12.2008
Last night, National Enquirer Editor David Perel dropped another bombshell -- that Edwards has had three meetings with Hunter at the Beverly Hills Hilton.
Carol Felsenthal, 08.14.2008
The Edwards are apparently still planning to converse together for Salem State College's 26 year old lecture series. Luckily for curiosity seekers, there are still tickets left.

Going out and getting stupidly laid and then coming home and reconciling with the wife is not the same as going out, getting stupidly laid, divorcing the crippled wife and marrying the pretty young thing.
Drew Westen, 08.10.2008
We all extol John McCain for enduring 5 years of extreme hardship in Vietnam. But aren't his first wife's circumstances much like Elizabeth Edwards'?

Edwards was in full campaign swing last June/July, which is when this woman ended up pregnant.
Now, we all know how the candidates are hounded by the media during a campaign. Is it really fathomable that Edwards would continue the affair that late into the campaign? Seriously? With all eyes on him, and with the story already breaking underground?
I really believe him that he stopped seeing her before she got pregnant, and that baby IS NOT Edwards'.
According to Obama, it isn't too late to abort the baby.
Why isn't he being investigated for breaking campaign finance laws?
Obama will win, take Biden with him and successfully conduct the business of this country like men.
No war crime members ormistresses in the WHite House or Bill and Hillary who want to make the Democratic party about them. Why they have so much time at the convention is amaxing to me but as usual, Obama will put them in their place. He knew exactly what they would try to do, and planned accordingly. Nothing they cn do (including the torch wielding mob) Hillary has garnered will take his thunder. When Obama steps out into the stadium, anything the Crude Clinton's attempted to do will seem wasted and only serve to make them look as desperate as they really are. It's time they left the building!
A recent survey revealed that only 50% of Senator Clinton's supporters now support Obama, and that one in five now support Senator McCain. In order for the Illinois Senator and his VP choice to conduct the business of this country like men, they need to get elected. Forget hubris, do the math.
While the gov't is contracting out jobs concerned with gathering intelligence and national security, the National Enquirer would likely surpass current standards.
