Abuse of Power, Anger and Abortion Politics: Extremism Exposed
Maybe McCain's last act of patriotism for the country he loves is exposing extremist elements by picking Palin and making Americans more aware of how this Culture of Lies has taken root.

As Wall Street continued its nosedive, and markets around the world shuddered, John McCain's campaign launched an unrelentingly nasty assault on Barack Obama. Sarah Palin accused Obama of "palling around with terrorists." McCain co-chair Frank Keating smeared him as a drug-using "guy of the street." McCain contemptuously called him "that one." Rally speakers repeatedly referred to him as "Barack Hussein Obama." Rabid crowds responded with cries of "kill him!" and "treason." The party of Lincoln has gone from appealing to "the better angels of our nature" to evoking the darkest demons of our nature. Nevertheless, it was Cindy McCain who accused Obama of having "waged the dirtiest campaign in American history" -- a breathtaking display of projection.
This week, Arianna, Matthew, Robert and Tony debate the debate and the merits of capitalism.
So why aren't Bush's low ratings accurately reflected in the presidential polls? It's because Republicans want to believe. They want a political leader to validate the trust they put in their party.
Sarah Palin has turned the campaign into a hockey brawl.
The suggestion that any ethnic group is treacherous and Anti-American is unacceptable, dangerous, and unbecoming of such a great nation.
Maybe Palin really does believe the old saying "The higher the hair, the closer to God."
Washington should undertake a massive, temporary buyout of residential real estate in order to save its economy from years of turmoil and credit crisis.
McCain and his hatchet mom VP nominee are desperately trying to expose the "real" Obama to the people of America; but what they are really exposing is how morally corrupt McCain has become. And how complete has been his transformation from a noble reformer into an ignoble hack, willing to abandon his most deeply held values in his lust for the presidency. Read More The Winner of Debate II? "That One" McCain twice laid out the criteria for how the American people should judge the candidates: In tough times, we need someone with a steady hand on the tiller. By that measure, Obama was the clear winner. He was centered where McCain was scattered. Forceful where McCain was forced. Presidential where McCain was petulant. Read More
At the end of the debate, Brokaw asked McCain to get out of the way of his Teleprompter. He might as well have been speaking on behalf of the future: Senator McCain can you please get out of the way so we can get on with it?
One wonders at this point how the various agencies charged with the responsibility of protecting the presidential candidates from violence will respond to this latest tactic from the McCain campaign.
Since our last post, we've been asked many times to comment on Sarah Palin's mannerisms. Her Body-Talk is not as blatant as her running mate, probably...
This was supposed to be the "domestic policy" debate. Yet there we were once again talking about raids on Pakistan and defending Israel. Brokaw and the organizers let down the American public.
Palin is in the driver's seat and plans to stay there. Her take-no-prisoners nasty streak and extreme right wing views have found kindred spirits now that she's fully staffed up with veterans of Bush.
Why does McCain want to be president? Those who have followed him for years don't recognize his agenda, his tactics, his positions.
We do see Senator Obama as a transformational figure, but we did not recommend against John McCain lightly.

"I think there have been quite a few reporters recently," said Mr. McCain"s closest adviser, Mark Salter, "who have sort of implied, or made more than implications, that somehow we"re responsible for the occasional nut who shows up and yells something about Barack Obama." NYT
I found this statement in the NYT's article truly amazing since McCain and his surrogates have been everywhere attacking Obama for "assaulting" McCain's supporters!!! Are you f-ing kidding me? This is his CLOSEST ADVISER referring to their supporters as the "occasional nut?" Isn't that an assault?
Trying to figure out the McCain strategy is like trying to nail jello to the wall.
Paul, good read, nice job. However no mention of Olbermann and Maddow who have been railing on this subject all last week.

I cannot believe there are so many misinformed people out there like that woman who stood up at the McCain townhall and said she has been reading and that Obama is an Arab. Ignorance. I can't believe that these hateful people are so ignorant of the facts that are out there for everyone to see. And as far at Pat Buchanan, he is just a loud mouth. I turn him off or mute it when he is on. He says some incredibly stupid things sometimes too, and I don't watch Hardball much anymore either. Chris Matthews repeats the crap more than anybody. Over and over again. It gets sickening. Once in a while he will call someone on something, but most of the time he lets the crap go. As far as McCain dialing it back. He is dialing it back because it is not working not because he has a "conscious." If he did he never would have let it go on in the first place.
OBAMA/BIDEN '08
Believe in the future and Obama.
I'm a white 59 year old voter, my mother is 87 and she's going to go vote for Obama/Biden, along with my sister and me. She always taught us not to judge the character of a person by the color of their skin, but by their deeds. Mom has always kept up with the news, and when they started calling such hateful things in those crowds mother was appalled. She said McCain is as guilty as Palin, and that the two of them will certainly be judged by their maker, for the hateful things they say and do.
Mom said she will go with her walker to vote for such an honorable man. I'm very proud of her, who says the old are too set in their ways? Maybe we should all take our elderly family members and friends out to vote, and then out to eat. Go Obama/Biden
It's not really a coincidence that McCain is simply posing the question, the question itself is code. McCain--since he doesn't do "the email"--might not even realize why his handlers are telling him to emphasize that particular question, rather than any host of other questions he could be asking.
When McCain says "Who Is Barack Obama?" he's not just asking a simple question--what he is saying is, "All of those emails you've been getting--the ones with "Who Is Barack Obama?" in the subject line--are true and accurate descriptions.
