Staying in school and receiving a quality education are the best deterrents to juvenile delinquency. Yet almost half of our states spend on average more than three times as much per prisoner as per public school pupil.
From my perspective, I cannot imagine stronger supporters of meaningful and progressive educational reforms, of the invaluable work that teachers do, than education faculty.
Our educational institutions must step up to the plate now. We must make climate education a top priority for all universities, colleges, community colleges, and K-12 schools.
