Why Karl Rove Should Go To Jail
The courts have made clear that no one, not even the president, is immune from compulsory process. Any person who scoffs at the law and who has committed an offense should be put in jail.

Surely we can assume Karl still phones in ideas to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. He may be gone, but he'll never be lobotomized.
Here are four questions I'd like someone to ask Senator McCain, and that I'd like him to answer -- without parsing, without equivocating, just answer.
This sounds like a dream, doesn't it? Well, it's not. We have a unique opportunity right now to send Karl Rove to jail, but only if we take immediate action.
The New York-born politico exploited DC's property tax exemptions. If this story sounds familiar, it should: Rove played the same game back in 2005.
By defying a subpoena to testify on his role in politicizing the Justice Department, Rove is thumbing his nose at Congress, legal precedent, the public's right to know the truth, and the Constitution. This is no petty partisan squabble; this is a fight about the foundations of our democracy. READ MORE Surge Amnesia: The Media's Newest Affliction Buoyed by a reduction in violence in Iraq, John McCain is running a "the surge has worked" victory lap and war supporters like Condi "I'm Proud to Have Overthrown Saddam" Rice are beating their chests. And the media are swallowing this triumphalist nonsense whole and washing it down with a pitcher of revisionist Kool-Aid. Yesterday it became clear Rove and the White House believe they are in a class entirely by themselves -- a separate group that is above the reach of a subpoena and, consequently, above the law.
Karl Rove says Barack Obama is arrogant. Arrogant, of course, is a euphemism. In the monochromatic bunkers from which old-schoolers cling to power the true word they use is "uppity" when hurled at blacks.
Imagine the triumphant procession: Barack at the head; after him the hunters leading the wolf; and winding up the procession, grandfather and the cat.
Schmidt's experience with Schwarzenegger tells him about the problems with the conservative base as the candidate runs a campaign aimed at independents.
Call it what you want: arrogance, a jinx -- but let's be honest with ourselves -- this thing is over. McCain won't just be defeated, he'll be crushed in a way that redefines the political map for the next 25 years.
So why is Karl Rove walking around free today? Because the Democrats talk a good game but when it comes to taking action, they fail time and time again.
Progressive social change in this country is never going happen as long as the Rush Limbaugh crowd is allowed to dominate our public airwaves.
By attacking Obama in a way that confirms every right-wing demagogic caricature of her own Party, Hillary has adopted the frames, lies, stereotypes and destructive clichés long embraced by the likes of Karl Rove.
Hundreds of ducks made a fatal landing in oil and toxic sludge; Republicans block federal aid to wind and solar; the shocking testimony of three whistleblowers on US contractors in Iraq.
As 60 Minutes was putting its show together, the White House put pressure on CBS to kill the show. And during the Don Siegelman portion, the screen went black.
