By defying a subpoena to testify on his role in politicizing the Justice Department, Rove is thumbing his nose at Congress, legal precedent, the public's right to know the truth, and the Constitution. This is no petty partisan squabble; this is a fight about the foundations of our democracy. READ MORE
Surge Amnesia: The Media's Newest Affliction Buoyed by a reduction in violence in Iraq, John McCain is running a "the surge has worked" victory lap and war supporters like Condi "I'm Proud to Have Overthrown Saddam" Rice are beating their chests. And the media are swallowing this triumphalist nonsense whole and washing it down with a pitcher of revisionist Kool-Aid. READ MORE

Surely we can assume Karl still phones in ideas to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. He may be gone, but he'll never be lobotomized.
Robert Greenwald, 07.18.2008
This sounds like a dream, doesn't it? Well, it's not. We have a unique opportunity right now to send Karl Rove to jail, but only if we take immediate action.

A congressional hearing
Rob Stafford, 07.18.2008
Here are four questions I'd like someone to ask Senator McCain, and that I'd like him to answer -- without parsing, without equivocating, just answer.
Andrew Belonsky, 01.25.2008
The New York-born politico exploited DC's property tax exemptions. If this story sounds familiar, it should: Rove played the same game back in 2005.
Rep. John Conyers, 07.10.2008
Yesterday it became clear Rove and the White House believe they are in a class entirely by themselves -- a separate group that is above the reach of a subpoena and, consequently, above the law.
John Ridley, 06.27.2008
Karl Rove says Barack Obama is arrogant. Arrogant, of course, is a euphemism. In the monochromatic bunkers from which old-schoolers cling to power the true word they use is "uppity" when hurled at blacks.
Martin Lewis, 02.16.2008
Imagine the triumphant procession: Barack at the head; after him the hunters leading the wolf; and winding up the procession, grandfather and the cat.
Seth Grahame-Smith, 07.01.2008
Call it what you want: arrogance, a jinx -- but let's be honest with ourselves -- this thing is over. McCain won't just be defeated, he'll be crushed in a way that redefines the political map for the next 25 years.
William Bradley, 07.10.2008
Schmidt's experience with Schwarzenegger tells him about the problems with the conservative base as the candidate runs a campaign aimed at independents.
Joseph A. Palermo, 07.07.2008
Progressive social change in this country is never going happen as long as the Rush Limbaugh crowd is allowed to dominate our public airwaves.
Tom D'Antoni, 07.10.2008
So why is Karl Rove walking around free today? Because the Democrats talk a good game but when it comes to taking action, they fail time and time again.
Arianna Huffington, 04.14.2008
By attacking Obama in a way that confirms every right-wing demagogic caricature of her own Party, Hillary has adopted the frames, lies, stereotypes and destructive clichés long embraced by the likes of Karl Rove.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Brendan DeMelle, 05.09.2008
Hundreds of ducks made a fatal landing in oil and toxic sludge; Republicans block federal aid to wind and solar; the shocking testimony of three whistleblowers on US contractors in Iraq.
Joseph A. Palermo, 07.03.2008
I don't think people who find themselves in poverty should have Bibles stuffed down their throats before their own government will give them a loaf of bread and some powdered milk.

Iraqi Surge: The Great Taste vs Less Filling Debate
Fellow Bloggers,
Can I take you folks down memory lane?
Do you remember those silly beer commercials, in which each side was yelling what they thought was the key attribute of their favorite suds?
One side would yell - "Great Taste!!!"
While the other was yelling - "Less Filling!!!"
Republicans, Democrats- ---ARE YOU KIDDING ME???!!!!!!
Honestly, its starting to get on my nerves...I'm a Democrat , but its enough to make me want to petition for a box on the ballot marked 'Neither'.
Isnt the important thing that fewer lives are currently being lost?
Furthermore, how can we seriously discuss the notion of ANY kind of a 'Win', when more lives have been lost in this struggle than were lost on 911? The audacity of ANYONE to proclaim a victory is tantamount to one saying - '"just start banging your head against the wall...the pain will go away when you stop!"
The notion of a win in Iraq reminds me of a comedy skit I heard on the radio when I was a child....they were interviewing 'Tonto'...the journalist asked Tonto how he met the Lone Ranger...
"I bandaged his wounds and saved his life"
"Wow - thats great Tonto! - I can see why you two are great friends"
"Well- its was the least I could do - it was me who shot him"
Ms. Sanchez can you tell me why Schumer and Feinstein voted for Muchasy who has been instrumental in sheilding Bushes cronies? And how come Nancy Pelosi is making sure there will be no impeachment proceedings that could lead to an actual conviction? Do they have some grander scheme that maybe the rest of us aren't privy too. What is the deal?
The president said he would punish anyone found out to have revealed the name of a CIA agent. We now know that Karl Rove did that but he conveniently quit his job. Arrest this guy. We are pulling people off the streets for hardly any reason and holding them for years with little evidence of a crime. Karl Rove revealed state secrets. Arrest him and show this administration that the rule of law still applies and the Constitution applies to everyone, even presidents and their staff.
So do it already. Lock him up. It's a welcome start.
Arrest him, now.
