Pew Research has identified more than 90 million evangelical Christians in the United States. Despite all the coverage reporters give to every other group imaginable, the truth is the Christian community is still the largest special interest group in the country.
The most important lesson of The Passion of the Christ was not that people are clamoring to watch faithfully pedantic retellings of Bible stories, but that some of the greatest stories ever told deserve to be told with an artistic flair.
Supposedly there are people who still want to view religious programs and this is the perfect time of the year for this type of miniseries to air. And even some non-religious types might want to know what is so important that 10 hours of TV time has been allotted to the story.
