The author was obviously trying to put the 2009 dinner in context with how previous years' affairs went. But he may have gotten a bit carried away in including quite so many characters, even as afterthoughts.
As riveting as Michael Ovitz's testimony was last week, there was quite a bit missing. Reviewing the F.B.I.'s notes from its interviews with Mr. Ovitz, it's clear the former super agent said a lot to the F.B.I. the jury never got to hear.
A source close to the case mentioned that the statute runs out today on any charges in connection with Mr. Ovitz's alleged wiretapping of his enemies. So unless he committed perjury during his testimony today, Ovitz is in the clear.
Ms. Shafrir testified to not instructing Mr. Pellicano to wiretap and to being "shocked" when she was played an actual wiretap... The government plans to call Michael Ovitz on Tuesday or at the latest, Wednesday.
