As riveting as Michael Ovitz's testimony was last week, there was quite a bit missing. Reviewing the F.B.I.'s notes from its interviews with Mr. Ovitz, it's clear the former super agent said a lot to the F.B.I. the jury never got to hear.

A source close to the case mentioned that the statute runs out today on any charges in connection with Mr. Ovitz's alleged wiretapping of his enemies. So unless he committed perjury during his testimony today, Ovitz is in the clear.

Below is exclusive audio tape from an April 2002 phone call of superagent Michael Ovitz -- once considered "the most powerful man in Hollywood" -- asking Anthony Pellicano for a secret meeting.

Mr. Ovitz tried to elicit sympathy from the jury while he talked about using Mr. Pellicano to get "embarrassing information" on his enemies.

Ms. Shafrir testified to not instructing Mr. Pellicano to wiretap and to being "shocked" when she was played an actual wiretap... The government plans to call Michael Ovitz on Tuesday or at the latest, Wednesday.

There is evidence that Mr. Pellicano obtained an advance copy of a 2002 Vanity Fair article about then-client, Michael Ovitz -- in which he referred to a 'gay mafia.'

While Mr. Pellicano was busy charging $25,000 retainers to every client--including Mr. Ovitz who asked the detective to investigate Anita Busch -- the telephone company worker was getting $250.

Mr. Pfeiffer told the courtroom that Mr. Pellicano was extremely effective against Ms. Finn. Mr. Pellicano confirmed that Ms. Finn was working as a prostitute at the time she was dating Mr. Pfeiffer.

Detective Helen Lim testified that she was asked by the F.B.I. to check to see if Mr. Arneson had run a variety of different names over the course of her investigation, including former New York Times reporter Anita Busch.

The real question is why did so many rich, famous and respected people in this town seek out Mr. Pellicano to do their dirty work?

Prosecutor Kevin Lally really rocked his opening statement: Mr. Pellicano was his client's own worst enemy, secretly recording their conversations while at the same time, promising discretion.
