Up it is a gloriously beautiful adventure film that will likely remain the finest film of 2009. While the film is basically about death and the fragility of life, it is every bit as funny and exciting as any other Pixar film.
Whether or not Observe and Report is a good film is open to debate. But criticizing a black comedy/social satire for having unlikable characters, awkward situations, and uncomfortable material is awfully foolish.
Surveying the historical span of filmmaking, the use of original music appears more prevalent from the dawn of sound through the 1970s -- or perhaps it's just that the scores themselves were more memorable over this period.
