If the Patriots had converted on 4th down, they would have had roughly a 100% chance of winning the game. If they didn't, they probably had somewhere between a 15-50% chance of winning.

The best offensive player I saw was running back C.J. Spiller of Clemson. He ran 22 times for 165 yards and a touchdown, caught 3 passes for 67 yards, and had 80 return yards.

What then might amuse those football fans whose team has already fallen into the dumper? You can adopt another club just for the 2009 season. Toss them overboard and pick a winner.

The perfect season. 6 and 0. So maybe that's a bit of a stretch. But as I look at the Broncos schedule, I think, why not? Other than needing to beat the Ravens, Colts and Eagles on the road.

George Will once described the game as a "mistake" combining the two worst aspects of the 20th Century: organized violence and committee meetings. He might as well have added "equal opportunity."

I believe that the NFL leadership does not need nor want to be directly associated with the constant and unlikely to cease vitriol and otherwise divisive and incendiary rhetoric of Rush Limbaugh.

I was actually having a decent game against the Patriots last Sunday. I had no mental errors or missed assignments; the game was in the balance. Then poof! In the blink of an eye, my dream season was over.

How great was it to see Wade Phillips lose a game in Denver for the other team? It took him 15 years, but Wade Phillips finally helped the Broncos win a football game.
