Holland Taylor has delivered a labor of love in this one-woman show about Ann Richards, the governor of Texas. It's a credit to Taylor that we feel like we've spent some time with Richards and would like to know more. It's a shame that this pleasant diversion doesn't work better as theater.
Nellie McKay's fourth album, Normal As Blueberry Pie, is a warm and quietly marvelous tribute to Doris Day. It hits the sweet spot in combining her talent and sensibility (future-retro?) in one focused project.
