Whereas the implications of a war with Iran for the national security of the US would be much worse than those of the Iraq war, little has been said about the implications for our economic security here at home.
Joseph A. Palermo, 07.18.2008
The terms "preemption" and "self defense" that Israeli hawks like Morris throw around are nothing but euphemisms for aggressive war and military violence.
Thomas Stern, 07.22.2008
I'm ready for the day when my family is gathered around breakfast table, my wife is rubbing stainless steel paddles together screaming, "CLEAR!" and I'm thinking, "As soon as I'm done with this heart attack, I've got to get back to work."
The Real News, 07.22.2008
McCain's belief that Iran is going to hand weapons over to terrorist organizations such as Hezbollah is unlikely because the Iranian government is fully aware that other countries could identify Iran as the provider.
Tad Daley, 07.18.2008
Surely, our massive nuclear arsenal will cause bin Laden, and his acolytes, to rethink aspirations for nuclear mass murder, and to step back from the atomic abyss. Won't it? Of course not.
Bruce Wilson, 07.09.2008
This latest round of scandal comes just as a coalition of progress activists has delivered a 43,000-plus signature petition calling to strip Lieberman of his chairmanship and rank in the caucus.
Alon Ben-Meir, 07.18.2008
For Iran's own best interests, its contentious leaders would be well advised to tone down their anti-Israeli threats and find a diplomatic solution to its suspected nuclear weapons program.
Rob Kall, 06.20.2008
What's the difference between "missing" nuclear weapons and "not having a full and complete auditable trail"? That appears to be the hair the Pentagon chooses to split.
Eric Margolis, 07.15.2008
Bush's last desperate act could be war with Iran. There is no proof Iran is working on nuclear arms, but the neocon war party in Washington is determined to loose a final Parthian arrow by striking Iran.

What is little known about Podhoretz is that the godfather of neoconservatism once entertained fantasies of having a relationship with no less an icon of liberalism than Jacqueline Kennedy.
Robert Naiman, 07.07.2008
What those promoting military attacks on Iran don't want Americans to know is that there's an offer on the table that could resolve the dispute over Iran's nuclear program and allow both sides to claim victory.
Ben Cohen, 05.05.2008
Attacking Obama while pulling the entire Democratic Party down with her is one thing, but threatening to commit nuclear holocaust on another country is another matter all together.
Joe Cirincione, 07.16.2008
In a stunning announcement today, the White House disclosed that a senior US official will meet with the Iranian nuclear negotiator over the weekend. A deal may be in the works.

Tad Daley, 07.01.2008
40 years ago today, our government committed itself to negotiate the elimination of its entire nuclear arsenal. And, in conjunction with the other nuclear weapon states, to abolish nuclear weapons forever.
Lincoln Chafee, 07.16.2008
And after years of hard work at thawing Cold War tensions with Russia, the proposed placement of a missile shield behind the former Iron Curtain is a backward step.

GO OBAMA!!!
In this day and age, ya know what ya get without nuclear weapons????
World Wars! We had two. Almost had a third, but pictures of Hiroshima and Nagasaki deterred Stalin, LeMay, and Goldwater until more rational minds could take over..
What a great response and up to date. Even during the primaries no one else was talking about this. Think about the psychological and economic energy that could be unleashed to deal with the worlds problems if we took nuclear weapons off the table. Of all the doomsday scenarios, global warming, population, epidemics etc., the destruction of the world by nuclear weapons is the easiest to solve. Destroy them! The cost and the time table and the technology is already known.
