Obama Cleveland Speech

At his moment of greatest political peril, Obama turns to a populist tone and rhetoric that is heartening for an old Midwestern populist like me to see. Welcome to the barricades, Mr. President.

Obama's speech hit most of the right points, but still seemed a bit tone deaf. It's inexplicable that he would wait until the election was so close before giving a speech that could generate some excitement.

Obama's speech signaled that he's over his obsession with chasing the nonexistent pipe dream of bipartisanship from Republicans. He defined what his party stands for and why their values are superior to Republicans'.
