Obama Germany Speech

For Americans who believe that the rest of the world should just suck it up and love us or leave us alone, the argument that we should care what the world thinks of us will have no impact.

By emphasizing the commonality of the U.S. and Europe's destinies above all else, Obama is beginning the healing process after eight years of Bush pompously dictating to the world.

These days, whenever a statesman stands at a podium, I imagine President Bush there instead, and I wonder: "How much more eloquent would his words be? How much more visionary?"
