Independents have made it plain enough that they don't like partisanship, they don't like ideological dogmatism and they don't like.... well, parties. Even if they vote for them.

Prop 14 would allow all voters, whether affiliated with a party or not, to vote in an all-inclusive first round in which every candidate is listed on the ballot with their party preference next to their name.

By opting out of the GOP, as much as I am loathe to say it, Smerconish is hurting the country as a whole. He is giving these people more power than they deserve to have, at least in Pennsylvania.
