WASHINGTON — Republicans want a Democratic lawmaker to apologize or face a reprimand for saying the GOP wants Americans to "die quickly" if they get sick. They note Democrats' insistence on a similar scolding of a Republican who shouted "You lie!" at President Barack Obama.
Rep. Alan Grayson of Florida has refused to apologize for his remarks on the House floor Tuesday night in which he criticized Republican health care proposals as a "blank piece of paper."
"If you get sick, America, the Republican health care plan is this: die quickly," he said. "That's right. The Republicans want you to die quickly if you get sick."
His remarks weren't spontaneous: He reinforced his point with signs saying the same thing.
Republicans are likening the remarks to Rep. Joe Wilson's widely criticized shout of "You lie!" during Obama's address to Congress earlier this month.

One of Florida's oldest theme parks, Cypress Gardens, is closing its doors.
The park's director of sales and marketing made the announcement Wednesday following months of rumors about a possible sale or closing.
Bob Morgan says the company that owns the park, Land South Adventures LLC, has spent the last two years trying to keep the park open. The company is now looking for potential buyers and renters for all or part of the property.
Located in Winter Haven in central Florida, Cypress Gardens was founded in 1936 by Dick and Julie Pope. The Pope family sold the park in 1985, and the property has changed owners several times since.

A media report says Blackstone Group is looking into buying Anheuser-Busch InBev's theme parks, including SeaWorld and Busch Gardens.
Dow Jones Newswires – citing unnamed sources – says the private equity firm is considering buying theme parks operated under Busch Entertainment Corp.
A spokesman for Blackstone said any comment now would be premature. A spokesman for Anheuser-Busch InBev declined to comment.
Anheuser-Busch InBev has made no secret of wanting to shed some of its assets since its $52 billion deal to buy brewer Anheuser-Busch last year.
Buying the parks could make sense for Blackstone Group, whose investments include Universal Studios Orlando and Madame Tussauds wax museums.
