		        In Yiddish there is a word for the mother of your son-in-law or daughter-in-law. She is your &lt;em&gt;machetenesta&lt;/em&gt;. There is no equivalent in the English tongue, no word to describe a relationship between two mothers that can be so fragile and fraught. Someone should think one up.
