While I admire how these "pink" marketing efforts have raised awareness and removed a little bit of the stigma that goes along with discussing cancer, I feel they have, to a certain degree, over-simplified a very serious topic.
It's not time to walk away from Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Instead, we need a reboot. Let's chuck "awareness" in favor of another element of the disease. Here's my radical idea: Let's make pink about poverty.
