My parents have never expressed much interest in my job, not least of all American pop culture, which I write about daily for a living. But one person has brought us together in way I previously thought unimaginable.
As we look at prognostications about the economy and politics of 2030, is it possible that the axis of global culture is also moving to other places, or at least will be more evenly distributed in the decades to come?
Can it be that having nearly a billion hits on YouTube gives a man such celebrity status that his denigration of military families like mine can be overlooked, even by you? If so, this is a shameful triumph of self-promotion over selfless service.
