Medicare is underwriting up to eight counseling sessions per year for smokers who are struggling to quit. The naysayer's response is "what a waste." However, research and clinical experience tell quite an opposite story.
It is high time we as a society take a more critical look at the 24/7 "happiness" model and ask the question: when is it less harmful, and perhaps even beneficial, to learn how to bear some of the inevitable discomforts of life?
