For all the legacies that American politics has bequeathed to the world, one that rarely gets acclaim is its linguistic legacy. Many words that originated from American politics have permeated our general lexicon.
It's time for black advocacy organizations with built-to-last influence in advancing the Black American agenda to include HBCUs at the top of their priorities, and to increase the call for an immediate end to unbalanced reporting on these institutions.
Hollywood sets styles, captures imaginations, touches dreams. Worldwide, movies provide people with much of what they think about America. Yet, the 5,765 voting members of the Academy are far from representative of the moviegoing public.
