I have never thought of myself as someone who would be on a reality show, especially competing for someone's heart. But when the opportunity was presented to me to be on TV One's The Ultimate Merger the decision was an easy one.
Ok, so I'm an L.A. native, which makes me an anomaly in a city known for its nomadic tendencies. But it does qualify me as an observer of what comes and goes in this town that thinks of itself as a trendsetter.
I can no longer stand to watch a program that -- while brilliantly produced and written with respect to entertainment value -- perpetuates a horrible stereotype about women: that they are hysterical, unhinged and conniving.
Am I watching Hoarders the same way certain people watch NASCAR? Just as they wait for a fiery crash, am I hoping for the discovery of a mummified animal? Simply put, does watching a Hoarders marathon make me a bad person?
