If this Congress votes today to condemn a report it has not read, concerning events it has totally ignored, about violations of law of which it is unaware, it will have brought shame to this great institution.

Now that the report has been voted out of the Human Rights Council and forwarded to the Security Council, the gamesmanship continues. That it is back center stage is a good thing.

On October 1, the Obama administration successfully pressured the Palestinian delegation to the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva to drop its proposal to recommend that the UN Security Council endorse the findings of the Goldstone Commission report.

With the release of the Goldstone report, Israel has a choice. It can continue to shoot the messenger and bury its head in the sand, or it can initiate a genuine process of truth-telling and taking responsibility.
