I've just returned from Alaska, where I conducted interviews and archival research for a book on Palin, and many of those I spoke to in the Last Frontier, from across the political spectrum, noted that Palin was fixated on Obama.

Palin continues to maneuver herself, haphazardly as it may be, into a run for the presidency in 2012. Through it all she continues to delve in a disturbing duplicity, spewing lies and half-truths.

As Palin is pushing an energy plan that fronts her as presidential material for 2012, two of her top aides are being hit with new ethics charges, to be filed with the state Attorney General on Monday.

There is something very ugly happening out there in the hinterlands these days--a brewing cauldron of racist anger being directed at President-elect Barack Obama.

What does all of this mean? The friendly, apparently all-American demeanor? The rabid support of radical right-wing fundamentalists? The dogged, inexplicable hatred of trooper Wooten?

Of course, many of these people are not Republicans. But if you're compromising everywhere else, why not on party affiliation?
