Those of us who remember the struggle during the last 50 years for equal opportunities to vote for African-Americans must say: we will not stand idly by and let the voting rights we earned through blood, sweat and tears, be limited or extinguished by the Supreme Court or Congress.

Bring Voting Rights Law Into the 21st Century

If skepticism from the Supreme Court's conservative wing is any indication, a core provision of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 could be struck down this year. This should alarm anyone who views voting as a fundamental right and not a "racial entitlement."
