The debate over immigration reform often boils down to a tug-of-war between those who want more enforcement and those who want a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants. But comprehensive reform requires addressing far more than these two issues.

Word has leaked out that Janet Napolitano and ICE director John Morton are pressuring the Justice Department to sue "sanctuary cities" like San Francisco and Chicago that still refuse to cooperate with the federal government in local immigration enforcement.

If President Obama is really concerned about the effects of section 2(B) and that "no American should ever live under a cloud of suspicion just because of what they look like," then he should order an end to the Secure Communities program.

Secretary Napolitano has her work cut out for her if she truly wants her department to sidestep discriminatory practices and restore an ounce of credibility to Secure Communities.
