Where were you in my early teen years as I contemplated suicide for the very first time? After years of taunts and bullying in the name of the Lord, my psyche broke and I was left alone to the darkness of insanity.

On Wednesday, Oct. 17, the Seventh-day Adventist Church's Executive Committee, at the Annual Council, changed their half-page stance on homosexuality. Naturally, there was a buzz in the "Seventh-Gay Adventist" world about this change.

I am a young Seventh-day Adventist, bisexual male and I believe that it's time for Christianity to come out of the closet of close-mindedness. It's time to admit that "Don't Ask/Don't Tell" hasn't worked. Preaching fear and ignorance hasn't worked.

All the "ex-gay" speakers had traumatic childhood experiences to which they attribute the cause of their "same-sex attractions," most of them having been sexually abused. Lives of drug use, prostitution and promiscuity were presented as the norm for LGBT people.
