CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — NASA is inviting its Twitter followers to the next space shuttle launch.
The shuttle Atlantis was moved to the launch pad Wednesday for its planned liftoff on Nov. 12. The shuttle will deliver more goods to the International Space Station.
For the first time ever, NASA is holding a liftoff Tweetup. The first 100 NASA Twitter followers who sign up will get a tour of Kennedy Space Center and a front-row seat for Atlantis' launch. Registration opens Friday.
NASA has had Tweetups before, but never for a shuttle launch.
NASA says it wants to share the excitement of a shuttle launch with a new audience. Astronauts have been filing Twitter updates since spring, from both Earth and orbit.

After more than a month's delay, space shuttle Endeavour and seven astronauts thundered into orbit Wednesday on a flight to the international space station, hauling up a veranda for Japan's enormous lab and looking to set a crowd record.
Success came on launch try No. 6, on the eve of the 40th anniversary of the liftoff of man's first moon landing.
Several pieces of foam insulation came off the external fuel tank during the launch and the shuttle was hit two or three times, said Bill Gerstenmaier, NASA's space operations chief. Some scuff marks were spotted on the belly, but that probably is coating loss and considered minor, he said.
Engineers immediately began reviewing all the launch video, standard procedure ever since flights resumed following the 2003 Columbia disaster. Gerstenmaier said zoom-in photos will be taken of the entire shuttle before it docks with the space station Friday to ascertain whether the shuttle suffered any serious damage.
Endeavour blasted off a little after 6 p.m. from its seaside pad – the same one used to launch Apollo 11 on July 16, 1969 – a welcome sight for shuttle workers who had to overcome hydrogen gas leaks last month and, since the weekend, thunderstorms.

The skies finally cleared, allowing commander Mark Polansky and his crew to embark on their 16-day adventure. One more holdup and they would have tied a record for the most shuttle launch delays.
"The weather is finally cooperating, so it is now time to fly," launch director Pete Nickolenko called out to the crew. "Persistence pays off."

NASA has finished fueling the space shuttle for a sixth attempt to launch Endeavour on a mission to the international space station.
Endeavour is poised to take off for the space station Wednesday evening, along with seven astronauts. Forecasters put the odds of good weather at 60 percent.
Thunderstorms have delayed the mission three times and hydrogen gas leaks have caused two delays. Endeavour holds the final piece of Japan's space lab, which should have flown last month.
NASA could also launch Endeavour on Thursday, if managers agree to shorten the flight. Otherwise, the shuttle will have to step aside for a Russian supply run to the space station. That would bump the shuttle launch to July 26.
