There's a theory out there that posits a giant "feedback loop" between MTV and other purveyors of youth culture and the kids who consume it. Shows like "Skins" actually do hold up a mirror to a portion of their audience.

MTV's version of Skins is, in my humble, vaguely nauseated opinion, repellent -- but not for the same reasons that the PTC and several advertisers have judged it similarly.

MTV is a business -- not a non-profit -- and their responsibility is to their shareholders. If you don't like Skins, turn it off -- don't blame MTV. Let's not allow TV or the media to raise our children.
