Their resolution is gay bashing at its worse, because it implies that in the end God, too, is a gay basher who will sentence the unrepentant homosexual to an eternity in hell. Ultimately, the Southern Baptist resolution is an act of what I call "holy terrorism."
Rev. Luter may be unaware of how the Southern Baptist Convention, as a huge denomination within the anti-gay Christian right, may have actively recruited him during this election period to reach African-American voters and exploit black homophobia to unseat Obama.
The SBC likes to portray its position on homosexuality as an unchangeable moral absolute. The facts, however, show that the SBC has changed its positions on minorities before.
