There are no world engines in Monsters University. There are no villains pretending to be someone with a much less interesting name in Monsters University. At no point in Monsters University does a daughter poison her mom, turning her mom into a bear. (I threw this Brave reference in here just to prove that it has nothing to do with Monsters University being animated.)
