Do I really believe that Limbaugh has evolved beyond partisanship? No, the sun still rises in the East. But I'm grinning because I've learned that at the end of the day America only works when it represents its people, and it's fun to see Rush learn that lesson too.
The Supreme Court has ruled. But, in a democracy, citizens rule. We can do that by working with and through responsible elected officials who are committed to reclaiming America for the electorate rather than the elite.
If there is one thing we absolutely should not be doing, it's tinkering with our founding document to prevent groups like the ACLU (or even billionaires like Sheldon Adelson) from speaking freely about the central issues in our democracy.
As for the clouds of political speech now darkening the landscape, corporations and corporate PACs can lie just like candidates. The Supreme Court justices who gave corporations a constitutional right to speak as persons were also giving them a right to lie like persons.
If our current campaign finance system isn't corrupt, what is? A handful of billionaires can decide who the next president will be. If our Supreme Court doesn't find that corrupt, then they are using a very different dictionary than the rest of America.
