This week, I got the chance to have a laugh out loud conversation with three hosts of one of daytime's hottest shows, The Talk. Julie Chen, Sharon Osbourne and Sheryl Underwood seem to be having just as much fun together on camera as well as off.
The Pakistani talk shows, though exuberant, are for the most part crude, unruly, and uneducated, potentially as detrimental to the dissemination of quality ideas as are the savvy but highly filtered talk shows in the U.S. corporatist media.
Trudy was audibly frustrated. "What I can't figure out," she said, "is why this even got the attention it did. You're an average woman who grew up feeling freakish and came to terms with her looks over time. That's the universal story, right?"
Let's face it: I was handpicked from obscurity to become the face of television's new talk/variety show IFC's Comedy Bang! Bang! There is a lot of pressure on me. What else to do but to turn to talk shows of yore for inspiration?
