Life's responsibilities and monotony replaced the sheltered and thrilling adventures that the television show had once offered. Is this to say that college relationships, like many of the Bachelor couples, are doomed?

We've all been in love. And we've all been TERRIFIED of having that love not returned or having that love taken away. We each have our own defenses we put up to try to keep us from that hurt.

It's here, y'all: the Grand Finale of "The Bachelor," the final episode of Ben Flajnik's crazy journey to find love. Or TV fame. Whatever. Either way...

Roughly 120 minutes of Ben pretending to struggle to make a decision between the horse girl and the model was about as riveting as watching paint dry or grass grow ... However, there were pockets of energy here and there tucked away in unlikely places.

Fanciful Monday nights with friends and popcorn are long gone. I increasingly find myself screaming at my television like a crazed contestant. It's bad enough that we've had to watch the women whittle away over the years, but the show reinforces more than physical stereotypes.

Even if I haven't devoted a noteworthy portion of my life to the soul-enriching experience of drooling over Ben or Brad or Bob or Byron, I've still learned some important things from The Bachelor. (And no, the list doesn't include "important people's names all start with the letter B.")

The Feb. 27 episode didn't even come close to entertaining. I would call it a distant cousin of mediocre. Like Ben's wardrobe, it was two hours of a bland, forgetful ensemble.
