It all started with the idea of a Super Bowl commercial to promote the real Kentucky. "We wanted to put it on the biggest stage in the world," says Whit Hiler of ad agency Cornet IMS in Lexington.
The Derby is well-marketed, mawkish insanity. The Preakness? Um, well... not exactly drenched in tradition, is it? I mean, what do the fans at the track drink while they're waiting for the race to start?
